It’s going to be a weekend full of nasty weather as this blizzard rolls in!
Be sure that your terminal and warehouse facilities have adequate heating.
Check your generators and top off fuel levels as needed.
Consider renting a temporary backup generator if you don’t have one in case of power supply loss.
Avoid using temporary space heaters to heat the areas unless absolutely necessary. The additional fire and safety hazards posed by these typically never outweigh their potential benefits.
Ensure that excess amounts of snow and ice don’t build up on the roof system by hiring a 3rd party (with their own verifiable workers compensation insurance) to spread ice melting agents and to clear the drain pipes on a regular basis.
Along the same lines, be sure that your preventative maintenance plan includes regular checking of your roof drains to ensure that they aren’t clogged with debris..
A backup of debris can lead to ice dams and then more ice and snow on the roof than should be there.
I hope that everyone stays safe and warm!!
